At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia+ Technology Conference, NVIDIA's Chief Financial Officer, Colette Kress, revealed that the company has secured an export license for its H20 chip to China. Should geopolitical tensions between China and the United States subside, NVIDIA anticipates that sales of the H20 chip in the third quarter could yield up to US$5 billion in revenue.
Kress highlighted that NVIDIA's revenue from its data center and networking segments saw a 12% quarter-on-quarter increase in the second quarter, with projections indicating a further 17% rise in the third quarter. Presently, NVIDIA has received approval to supply the H20 chip to major Chinese clients. However, the shipment still hinges on coordination between the two governments regarding geopolitical matters.
Looking ahead, Kress estimated that sales of the H20 chip have the potential to generate an extra US$2 billion to US$5 billion in revenue for NVIDIA.
