Latent Labs, emerging from stealth mode roughly six months after securing $50 million in funding, has launched a web-based AI model specifically tailored for biological programming. Simon Cole, the CEO and founder of the company, announced that the proteins they have developed have demonstrated industry-leading performance across various metrics in physical laboratory tests. Cole, who previously co-led DeepMind's AlphaFold protein design team, emphasized the model's "state-of-the-art" performance, a term frequently used in AI to signify that the model's capabilities in specific tasks have reached the pinnacle of industry standards thus far.
