On October 22, Meta Platforms (META.O) announced an upward revision of its capital expenditure forecast and plans to create a new class of non-voting shares during its quarterly earnings release, further increasing its investment in the artificial intelligence sector. Meta expects its capital expenditure to reach between $135 billion and $145 billion in 2026, up from its previous forecast of $130 billion to $135 billion. Meanwhile, Meta plans to distribute the new class of shares to existing investors in the form of a stock dividend, effectively equivalent to a 2-for-1 stock split, with trading of the new shares expected to begin in January next year. Meta stated that the new class of shares will be used to raise capital, for employee compensation, and potential acquisition deals, demonstrating the company's confidence in the return on investment in artificial intelligence. Additionally, Meta's revenue for the third quarter was $64.6 billion, exceeding market expectations, and it expects fourth-quarter revenue to reach between $73 billion and $76 billion, also surpassing analysts' average forecasts.
