Infineon has announced that it will deepen its collaboration with NVIDIA to jointly advance the development of an 800-volt direct current (DC) power supply architecture for AI data centers, with a focus on the research and development of high-voltage intermediate bus converters. The two companies will leverage gallium nitride (GaN) power semiconductor technology to enhance power conversion efficiency and power density, while reducing energy loss and cooling requirements. This collaboration is a continuation of the previous 800V DC power supply architecture project, involving intermediate bus conversion and power path protection, among other aspects. It aims to support AI data centers with higher power density and enhance the hot-swappable maintenance capabilities of server racks.
