On October 21, Business Insider, drawing on sources with insider knowledge, disclosed that Fireworks AI, a startup specializing in artificial intelligence infrastructure, is embarking on a fresh round of funding. The company aims for a valuation that spans from $30 billion to $40 billion, a significant leap from its valuation of merely $17.5 billion just a few months prior. Presently, the funding negotiations are in their nascent stages, and the ultimate valuation remains subject to change.
In contrast to firms developing products akin to ChatGPT, Fireworks AI is dedicated to furnishing businesses with "specialized intelligence" services. This approach entails tailoring AI models to align with clients' proprietary data, workflows, and specific business requirements, thereby ensuring a more precise fit for real-world enterprise applications. In July of this year, Fireworks AI proclaimed that its annualized revenue had eclipsed the $1 billion mark, with a daily processing volume exceeding 40 trillion tokens. Impressively, 95% of this processing was derived from customized models.
