On October 17, Jack Clark, the co-founder of Anthropic, remarked on Saturday that the capabilities of artificial intelligence are advancing at a remarkable pace and are poised to catalyze swift transformations across a multitude of sectors. According to the company's internal economic projections, by 2030, AI could be the driving force behind a significant surge in the U.S. economic output, potentially reaching $44 trillion. Addressing the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Bangkok, Clark emphasized the necessity for the global community to collaboratively devise “specific and rigorous regulations” for this revolutionary technology. He acknowledged that the forecast of the U.S. GDP soaring to $44 trillion, up from its current level of just over $30 trillion, might appear “extraordinary.” However, he highlighted that AI is markedly expediting the process of scientific discovery. With sustained technological advancement, such an outcome remains within the realm of possibility. Should the GDP witness such a substantial upswing, it would necessitate the emergence of novel industries and inventions to fuel this economic expansion.
