On October 15, it was reported that China is propelling the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the new paradigm of industrialization, with manufacturing at its heart and application requirements serving as the key impetus. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has orchestrated nearly 30 “Deep Dive” sessions to foster AI-driven advancements in industrialization, successfully matching supply and demand for over 5,000 companies. Concurrently, it has bolstered the creation of 18 national AI innovation and application pilot zones, including those in Beijing and the Jinan-Qingdao region, and spurred the industry to establish nearly 200 pivotal technical standards for AI. Furthermore, a national AI industry investment fund amounting to 60 billion yuan has been established.
Today, MIIT officially rolled out the “High-Value Scenarios for AI-Enabled New Industrialization,” offering a guiding “Industry Navigation Map” for the deployment of AI in the realm of new industrialization. This map, crafted through the collaborative efforts of multiple research institutions and enterprises, spans 20 sub-sectors such as petrochemicals, steel, automotive, and consumer electronics, and encompasses over 1,000 specific scenarios, all originating from real-world industrial manufacturing experiences. Experts have highlighted that the application of AI in the industrial sector still confronts hurdles, including the tendency of some enterprises to blindly follow trends and engage in redundant construction, as well as challenges in transferring and reapplying successful experiences.
