Sarvam AI, an Indian language foundation model company headquartered in Bangalore, is currently immersed in early-stage funding negotiations. The company aims to raise between $250 million and $300 million, with a target valuation of approximately $3 billion. This valuation nearly doubles the previous $1.5 billion valuation from just four months ago. If the deal materializes successfully, Sarvam AI will emerge as one of India's most highly valued AI startups.
Previously, Sarvam AI secured its Series B funding round in mid-2026, reaching a post-money valuation of around $1.5 billion, under the leadership of HCLTech. In the current funding discussions, Sarvam AI is primarily engaging with major Indian domestic enterprises and institutions, anticipating that Indian entities will acquire significant stakes. At present, the funding terms and the list of investors have yet to be finalized, and the company has not publicly confirmed these ongoing discussions.
Sarvam AI specializes in developing large language models, voice systems, and related tools specifically designed for India's multilingual environment. Its applications span learning tools for non-English-speaking populations, public services, and various other scenarios. The company plays a pivotal role in bolstering India's indigenous AI research capabilities.
