In the wake of a series of cyberattacks that have led to the leakage of personal data within South Korea's financial sector, financial regulators have swiftly demanded that financial institutions conduct comprehensive internal security audits and promptly report their findings. The Chairman of the Financial Services Commission in South Korea has convened an emergency meeting, emphasizing the need for a rapid and exhaustive security review across the entire financial industry.

Preliminary investigations suggest that some of these attacks specifically targeted less frequently monitored external websites and servers utilized by loan agents and employees. Regulatory bodies have not dismissed the potential use of artificial intelligence technology in these attacks and have urged the acceleration of efforts to establish a security framework that leverages AI to counter AI-driven threats.

Upon being briefed on the situation, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has taken the matter very seriously, directing relevant departments to carry out a meticulous investigation and devise appropriate response strategies.
