The world's largest open-access preprint paper platform, arXiv, has announced an adjustment to its submission policy starting from October 1, 2026: Each submitter can submit a maximum of 2 papers per month, and the number of active submissions at any given time shall not exceed 3. The new regulations apply to all disciplines and aim to address the surge in submissions driven by the widespread adoption of AI technology. Over the past two years, submissions of AI-related papers have increased sixfold, with the proportion of low-quality AI-generated papers rising to 10%-12% in early 2025, significantly increasing the review pressure. The new regulations aim to reduce the review burden by limiting submission frequency and ensuring efficient review of high-quality papers.
