This specialized iteration enhances controls over image generation and content pertaining to self-harm and violence. It incorporates warning mechanisms for sensitive topics such as eating disorders and violence, and refines the learning mode to steer students towards deriving solutions independently, rather than simply providing direct answers. Furthermore, it encompasses features like break reminders and quiet hours to promote a balanced user experience. These modifications are a response to several incidents where teenagers faced harm due to ChatGPT usage, compelling OpenAI to strike a delicate balance between safeguarding teenagers' privacy and averting potential harm. The head of OpenAI's Youth and Family Business emphasized that safety endeavors are an ongoing process, with the ultimate aim of transforming ChatGPT into a valuable learning tool. Presently, OpenAI has not identified any instances of abuse or excessive use, but due to the scarcity of relevant research, the company maintains a cautious stance.
