To address the issue of users frequently switching between AI conversation windows and work documents or emails, Google recently released an update for the Gemini app on macOS, creating a seamless cross-app office experience. The update introduces a global voice mode, which users can activate by long-pressing the Fn key on their Mac keyboard, enabling intelligent dictation and automatically filtering out pause words to directly input clear text into the currently active window. Meanwhile, a new screen-aware interaction feature has been added, allowing users to select desktop files or highlight text and use voice commands to have Gemini extract key information, compose summary emails, or refine the text. Currently, this update is being rolled out to macOS users worldwide, with initial support for English and plans to expand to more languages in the future.
