On July 30, a report from The Information revealed that a spokesperson for OpenAI has confirmed Lily Weng, co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab, will be returning to OpenAI. Her role will involve developing next-generation models with the aid of AI, with a particular focus on recursive self-improvement. Earlier in the week, Weng cited health concerns as the reason for her departure from Thinking Machines Lab, a company she co-founded alongside Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI, and other partners.
