On July 15, Mao Shengyong, the Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, disclosed at a press conference organized by the State Council Information Office that, based on preliminary estimates, in the first half of this year, emerging economic forces such as high-end manufacturing, the digital economy, and modern services accounted for over 40% of the economic growth. This reflects a clear and accelerating shift towards a new, high-quality economic development model. In the first half of the year, the added value of high-tech manufacturing industries, as defined by a certain scale, surged by 13.3% year-on-year. Specifically, the aerospace vehicle and equipment manufacturing sector, along with the electronics and communication equipment industries, witnessed growth rates of 16.3% and 17%, respectively. Industries related to artificial intelligence, including integrated circuit manufacturing and smart in-vehicle equipment manufacturing, all experienced growth rates exceeding 30%. Simultaneously, the green transition is gaining momentum, with the retail penetration rate of new energy vehicles surpassing 60% for three consecutive months in the first half of the year, propelling a 39.3% increase in lithium-ion battery production. In recent years, the transition from traditional to emerging economic drivers has accelerated, with these new forces gradually emerging as the primary drivers of China's economic growth.
