The emerging tech firm PrismML has recently acknowledged that it is engaged in talks with Apple about its cutting-edge artificial intelligence model compression technology. The technology, which was initially reported on five days prior, has now been officially recognized for its suitability for iPhones, amid swirling rumors of a potential partnership. Hailing from the California Institute of Technology, PrismML's innovative 1-bit model compression technique can dramatically shrink model sizes to roughly one-fourteenth of their original full-precision counterparts. This breakthrough not only slashes memory usage by more than 90% but also accelerates inference speeds by up to eightfold, while simultaneously cutting energy consumption by a staggering 75% to 80%. PrismML has already demonstrated its prowess by successfully compressing Alibaba's open-source large language model, Qwen 3.6, which boasts 27 billion parameters, and enabling its seamless operation on the iPhone 17 Pro.
