On July 9, foreign media, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that AI chip startup Positron is in discussions for a two-stage funding round, aiming to raise approximately $750 million. Positron is dedicated to developing energy-efficient inference chips for running AI models and is one of many companies attempting to challenge Nvidia's position. The first stage of this funding round is expected to value the company at $3.5 billion, with the valuation potentially rising to around $5 billion in the second stage. If the funding is successfully completed, the company's valuation will more than triple within five months. Positron boasts a strong lineup of investors, including Valor Equity Partners, Atreides Management, DFJ Growth, as well as Arm and the Qatar Investment Authority.
