The substantial power demands of AI servers are prompting an evolution in data center power supply strategies. Initially, NVIDIA identified the 800V high-voltage DC solution as pivotal for next-generation AI server rooms. However, this approach has recently become the subject of debate due to delays in its mass production timeline. Despite these concerns, NVIDIA's principal energy ecosystem collaborator has confirmed that the project remains on track, albeit with its progress somewhat hampered by the nascent state of the energy infrastructure supply chain. NVIDIA has unequivocally communicated that the 800VDC development is progressing without significant hindrance, with the complementary power racks (supporting power infrastructure) anticipated to be prepared for large-scale production by the third quarter of 2026. Concurrently, Delta Electronics is projected to commence delivering limited quantities of 800V standalone power cabinets to prominent North American cloud service providers in the fourth quarter of 2026.
