Reports indicate that Alibaba partner Zhou Jingren has recently tendered his resignation, with Alibaba yet to respond to media inquiries at the time of publication. On June 8, Alibaba announced that Zhou Jingren would assume the role of chief scientist and lead the establishment of the AI Future Research Institute, with a focus on exploring cutting-edge AI technologies. In a parallel move, Alibaba restructured by merging the Tongyi Large Model Business Unit and the Future Living Lab to form the Token Foundry Business Unit, which will fall directly under the supervision of Group CEO Wu Yongming. The industry has interpreted the rumor of Zhou Jingren's resignation, just six days into his tenure, as a veiled demotion, resulting in a loss of real authority and specific business responsibilities.
