The UK government has announced an investment of £1.1 billion (approximately $1.47 billion) to enhance domestic AI computing capabilities, including the construction of a new national-level AI supercomputer expected to be operational by 2030, and the allocation of £400 million for the procurement of AI chips, with £150 million earmarked for next-generation inference chips and £250 million for specialized chips. Additionally, a £120 million AI hardware innovation initiative will be established to support the R&D efforts of local chip companies.
