On June 10, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the "Implementation Guidelines for the Innovative Development of 'Artificial Intelligence + Information and Communication' (2026-2028)". These guidelines are designed to amplify network edge inference capabilities. They suggest that, driven by specific scenario demands, inference computing power should be strategically placed on edge devices within 5G/5G-A networks, optical networks, IP networks, and emerging industrial networks. This approach aims to deliver edge computing services that seamlessly blend sensing, communication, computing, and intelligence, facilitating the application of artificial intelligence across diverse sectors such as transportation, the low-altitude economy, manufacturing, and entertainment. Concurrently, the guidelines delve into cloud-network-edge-terminal collaborative inference technologies, with the goal of diminishing inference latency and easing the computational burden on terminals, thereby fostering synergy between large and small models.
