According to the Korea Economic Daily, citing anonymous government and industry sources, Hyundai Motor, in collaboration with the South Korean government and NVIDIA, is in final discussions to establish an AI technology center in South Korea, with Saemangeum being the preferred location. This R&D center will be one of NVIDIA's top-tier global research and development bases, with such high-specification facilities currently only present in a few regions, including Singapore and Taiwan, China. Hyundai Motor and NVIDIA signed a memorandum of understanding in October last year, agreeing to jointly supply GPU chips and establish an AI R&D center. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited South Korea this week, possibly to finalize the location and construction timeline, and plans to meet with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and industry executives this Friday. Hyundai Motor previously announced an investment of 9 trillion won in Saemangeum to build a hydrogen energy, AI data center, and robotics industrial park, providing a key advantage in the competition for the location.
