On April 8, 2026, Zhipu made headlines by officially launching its latest open-source model, GLM-5.1. Notably, this model stands out as the sole open-source option capable of continuous operation for up to 8 hours, outperforming Opus 4.6 in the rigorous SWE-bench Pro benchmark test. In conjunction with this release, Zhipu has also announced a 10% price hike for GLM. Following this adjustment, the cost of cache-hit tokens for GLM-5.1 in coding environments now aligns closely with that of Claude Sonnet 4.6. This milestone marks the inaugural instance where a domestic large-scale model has attained price competitiveness with leading international providers in key usage scenarios.
