To standardize the ethical governance framework surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) technology initiatives and foster the industry's robust and sustainable growth, ten government departments have jointly unveiled the 'Provisional Measures for Ethical Review and Oversight of Artificial Intelligence Technology'. These measures delineate the scope of AI technology activities subject to ethical review, emphasizing the necessity of integrating ethical considerations into every stage of technological development and deployment, in strict accordance with established ethical principles. Concurrently, they mandate that entities involved in AI-related activities serve as the primary bodies responsible for conducting ethical reviews, necessitating the establishment of dedicated ethics committees. Furthermore, these entities are encouraged to seek relevant certifications and have the option to set up specialized review and oversight centers. The measures also explicitly outline the roles and responsibilities of various departments and local authorities in supervising and managing the ethical review processes for AI technologies.
