On April 2, Alibaba made waves in the AI industry by introducing its latest large language model, Qwen3.6-Plus—the inaugural offering in the Qwen3.6 series. This model has been acclaimed as "China's premier model for programming prowess." By default, it boasts a substantial context window capable of handling 1 million Tokens. Remarkably, just a single day post-launch, Qwen3.6-Plus catapulted to the pinnacle of OpenRouter's daily rankings, amassing a daily invocation volume exceeding 1.4 trillion Tokens. This achievement sets a new global benchmark for single-day, single-model invocations on the platform.
In the programming capabilities sub-ranking of Arena, an internationally recognized large model competition, the preview version of Qwen3.6-Plus claimed the top spot in China. This success has elevated Alibaba to the second-highest position globally among AI institutions in terms of programming capabilities.
Following its official launch on OpenRouter, the invocation volume of Qwen3.6-Plus witnessed a staggering 711% increase. Moreover, its pricing strategy is more competitive than that of the Claude API, making it an attractive option for developers and businesses alike.
Currently, Qwen3.6-Plus is accessible on Alibaba Cloud's Bailian platform, allowing developers and general users to experience its cutting-edge capabilities firsthand. Looking ahead, Alibaba plans to open-source other model sizes within the Qwen3.6 series, with the flagship model, Qwen3.6-Max, slated for imminent release. This move underscores Alibaba's commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the AI community.
