Xu Rui, a seasoned executive with a rich background in the hardware sectors of Xiaomi and ByteDance, has been appointed to head the newly created AI hardware team within Meta's MSL (Meta Systems Lab). With a wealth of experience at leading internet technology firms, Xu Rui played a pivotal role in Xiaomi's corporate transformation from 2015 to 2017. Subsequently, he led hardware R&D efforts at ByteDance from 2020 to 2022. Before his tenure at Meta, he served as the COO of K-Scale Labs and later transitioned to the role of product manager at Dreamer. Earlier this March, Dreamer was acquired by Meta in an 'Acqui-hire' deal, a strategic move aimed at integrating talent and technology.
