According to state WARN Act filings and documents from the California Employment Development Department, Meta will permanently eliminate 198 positions (124 in Burlingame and 74 in Sunnyvale, California) in late May as part of an ongoing restructuring plan. The layoffs will affect departments such as sales, recruitment, and Reality Labs, with some employees being offered internal transfer opportunities. Meta's capital expenditures are expected to reach $135 billion this year, primarily for investment in AI infrastructure.
