According to tech media sources, in the early hours of the same day, certain iPhone users in China who had updated their devices to iOS 26.4 noticed a new option titled 'Apple Intelligence and Siri' in their settings menu. Nevertheless, the download process stalled at 3%-10%, rendering the GPT extension features inoperable. In response, Apple's official customer service clarified that Apple AI has not yet secured approval for its launch in China, and it is typical for such features to vanish temporarily following a system update. Should the launch proceed, an official announcement would be made in the news section of Apple's official Chinese website. The attempted launch was later speculated to be an error. As per Bloomberg's senior reporter Mark Gurman, the activation of Apple Intelligence in China was an unintended, accidental rollout. Apple is still awaiting final approval from Chinese regulatory bodies and currently lacks a definitive timeline for a forthcoming release.
