Silva, the former chief scientist at Google DeepMind and a key developer of AlphaGo, has bid farewell to DeepMind and launched an AI startup, Ineffable Intelligence, in London. Lately, the company is making headway with a nearly finalized seed funding round worth $1 billion, equaling the record established by Safe Superintelligence. Ineffable Intelligence will sidestep the well-established framework of large language models (LLMs), going back to the roots of reinforcement learning. It is dedicated to creating intelligent systems that aren't dependent on pre-existing human knowledge and are capable of independently discovering new knowledge. Silva's exit marks a notable personnel shift at DeepMind, and a spokesperson for DeepMind has verified the news and extended their appreciation to Silva.
