The Indian industrial behemoth Tata Group has entered into a partnership with OpenAI. Under this collaboration, Tata Consultancy Services is poised to co-develop bespoke AI services, finely tuned to meet the demands of specific industries. Additionally, it will provide support for enterprise integration platforms and establish AI computing infrastructure within India. The initial blueprint calls for the construction of a 100-megawatt computing facility, with provisions for expansion up to 1 gigawatt. The chairman of Tata Sons remarked that this partnership signifies a pivotal moment in India's ambition to emerge as a global frontrunner in AI.

Previously, Tata's competitor, Infosys, had already joined forces with Anthropic to offer AI services. Meanwhile, the Indian energy and logistics titan, Adani Group, has also unveiled plans to invest a staggering $100 billion in the construction of large-scale data centers by 2035. This week, tech luminaries and government leaders convened in India for the Global AI Summit, as New Delhi aspires to amplify the voices of emerging economies in the technology sector.
