The FutureHouse team, which initially focused on developing "AI scientists," has recently declared a strategic spin-off initiative. The non-profit entity, FutureHouse, will persist in its commitment to fundamental biological research. Meanwhile, the newly formed for-profit venture, Edison Scientific, will take charge of commercializing FutureHouse's AI research capabilities. This month, Edison Scientific unveiled Kosmos, a next-generation AI scientist capable of accomplishing research tasks that would typically require six months of human labor in a single operation. Kosmos leverages a "structured world model" to simultaneously process 1,500 research papers and 42,000 lines of analytical code. The AI has exhibited original discovery abilities in disciplines such as neuroscience and materials science. Additionally, Kosmos offers both a complimentary foundational tier and premium high-throughput services.
