The United States is reportedly on the verge of greenlighting its inaugural deal to supply advanced AI chips to Saudi Arabia's AI company, Humain. Sources with inside knowledge of the situation have indicated that this approval is likely to be part of a more extensive US-Saudi artificial intelligence pact, which might be sealed as soon as this week. This pact entails the US government's favorable stance on reviewing applications for the export of a pre-agreed volume of AI chips to Saudi Arabia. Ever since 2023, Saudi Arabia has needed to obtain US approval before purchasing such chips. With this US authorization in place, leading global semiconductor giants like Nvidia and AMD will be well-positioned to make a successful foray into the Middle Eastern market.
