JD Group and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have officially inaugurated the 'HKUST-JD Group Joint Laboratory.' The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Xu Ran, Guo Yike, Cheng Kwang-Ting, among others. This collaborative venture is operated jointly by HKUST's Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute, JD Explore Academy, and JD Logistics. The laboratory is dedicated to advancing intelligent supply chains and embodied AI technologies, with research spanning logistics, healthcare, retail, and industrial sectors.

Initially, logistics will serve as a focal point, with the laboratory set to pioneer key technologies essential for constructing an 'AI+Logistics' application ecosystem. Moreover, the laboratory aims to harness JD's extensive scenario data across multiple domains to foster cross-industry innovation. Both institutions will establish a structured communication platform to cultivate a sustainable innovation ecosystem. Additionally, JD's talent acquisition strategies will intensify recruitment efforts in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Xu Ran and Cheng Kwang-Ting both voiced their enthusiasm and high expectations for this partnership. Previously, JD unveiled its AI value formula at the JDD Conference and declared its dedication to sustained investment over the forthcoming three years, with the ambition to propel the growth of a trillion-dollar AI ecosystem.
