Following a €2.95 billion antitrust fine imposed by the European Union for abusing its dominance in the advertising technology sector, Google has submitted a rectification plan to the European Commission. Notably, the tech giant has refrained from proposing a breakup of its related business operations. Google emphasized that its proposal aligns with the Commission's ruling, steering clear of measures that would involve business splits, which it believes would negatively impact European publishers and advertisers. The company has already put forward several proposals aimed at refining its advertising technology model in the EU. These include granting publishers the flexibility to set varying minimum prices and bolstering the compatibility of its tools with third-party offerings. Additionally, Google has expressed its commitment to ongoing cooperation throughout the evaluation process.
