According to the 'Octoverse 2025' report unveiled on October 28 (local time), it is predicted that by 2030, India will overtake the United States in terms of the sheer number of software developers, thus ascending to the position of the world's foremost nation in this regard. Presently, the U.S. holds the top spot with 28 million developers. However, India is witnessing a meteoric rise, with an anticipated influx of over 35.6 million developers by 2030, culminating in a staggering total exceeding 57.5 million. In contrast, Brazil's developer community is expected to expand from 6.9 million to 19.6 million over the same period, while China's developer count is projected to reach 17.7 million.

The global upsurge in the developer population is predominantly driven by the AI boom. In August, TypeScript surpassed Python to claim the title of the most sought-after programming language. The volume of AI-related code repositories has witnessed a twofold increase over the past two years, with a notable 80% of new users activating Copilot within their inaugural week of registration. AI applications are transitioning from the 'proof-of-concept' phase to 'large-scale deployment.' Researchers have also highlighted the emergence of MCP and trends exemplified by projects such as ollama. The overarching theme for 2025 centers on the transformation of developers in the AI epoch.
