On October 29, U.S. media reported that YouTube, the video - streaming platform under Google's umbrella, is embarking on a restructuring process with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) applications. This strategic move is in line with Google's overarching transition to an AI - focused approach. It echoes Google CEO Pichai's call for employees to integrate AI throughout the company in a bid to boost productivity.
At present, it's still ambiguous whether YouTube will roll out more AI - powered products or just leverage AI for internal operations. However, YouTube has made it clear that this restructuring won't lead to layoffs. Instead, it will present voluntary buyout packages to its U.S. employees who are contemplating leaving the company.
