Mustafa Suleyman, the head of AI at Microsoft, has unequivocally stated that Microsoft will not develop AI services that include features akin to an 'adult mode,' thereby clearly differentiating itself from OpenAI. Roughly a week ago, OpenAI's CEO, Altman, unveiled plans to permit verified adults to utilize ChatGPT for generating adult content. In recent times, a rift has emerged between Microsoft and OpenAI, as OpenAI has started collaborating with Microsoft's rivals, while Microsoft has shifted its focus towards enhancing its in-house AI capabilities. Suleyman had previously expressed the view that tech firms should steer clear of developing services that 'give the impression of being conscious.' On this occasion, he emphasized that such development endeavors have already commenced, predominantly revolving around adult-oriented services. He stressed that these activities pose significant risks and must be steered away from. OpenAI did not offer any comments in response to requests for clarification, whereas xAI asserted that 'the mainstream media is spreading falsehoods.'
