In an effort to streamline costs, Nissan Motors is contemplating the closure of its two primary vehicle assembly plants in Japan: the Oppama Plant and the Shonan Plant. Together, these facilities account for approximately 30% of Nissan's domestic production capacity in the country. Additionally, Nissan has already announced plans to shut down factories in India and Argentina, and is currently coordinating the closure of three other international plants. However, these adjustments necessitate extensive collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including labor unions, component suppliers, and local governments, making the success of these measures uncertain at this stage.
