Tesla intends to resume shipments of parts for Cybercab and Semi truck production from China to the United States by the end of May, thanks to a temporary cessation in the US-China tariff dispute. Previously, the automaker had suspended this plan due to US tariffs on Chinese goods, which peaked at an exorbitant 145%. Tesla anticipates commencing trial production in October and achieving mass production of both models by 2026. The company has also submitted applications to state governments for permission to deploy a fleet of Cybercabs to offer robotaxi services. While this truce brings welcome relief to companies like Tesla that rely heavily on global supply chains, the lingering uncertainty surrounding policies of the Trump administration still poses potential risks to the overall plan.
