Recently, several car owners have voiced complaints about the abnormal battery drain issue affecting the SAIC Volkswagen ID.3 on the automotive complaint platform Chezhiwang. One owner reported that their vehicle, purchased on March 22, experienced a significant battery drop from 36% to 22% after being parked for just two hours on April 20. In response, the official customer service of SAIC Volkswagen clarified that this abnormal battery drain is attributable to a display value deviation, a characteristic inherent to lithium iron phosphate batteries, and not indicative of a battery quality issue. They advised car owners to periodically discharge their vehicles to a battery level between 12%-15%, allow the vehicle to rest for two hours, and then fully recharge it. This issue specifically affects the 2025 facelift Smart Edition of the Volkswagen ID.3, which is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries.
