On May 6, the autonomous driving firm WeRide and the ride-hailing giant Uber unveiled an expanded strategic partnership, aiming to deploy autonomous Robotaxi services in 15 new international cities across Europe, the Middle East, and other regions over the next five years. Since establishing their strategic partnership in September 2024, the two companies have successfully initiated public Robotaxi operations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, with a fleet size projected to reach 50 vehicles by mid-2025. This broadened collaboration aims to significantly scale up the deployment of autonomous vehicle fleets, enabling users to summon WeRide Robotaxi services directly through the Uber app.
