On April 15, it was announced that XPeng's in-house developed AI driving chip, named "Turing," will commence mass production and be available on the market in the second quarter of 2023, marking its debut in a new XPeng vehicle model. Since 2020, XPeng has invested heavily in research and development, culminating in a successful tape-out in August of last year. According to XPeng's roadmap, the "Turing" chip will not be confined to automobiles but will also expand its applications into AI robots and flying cars in the future. According to insiders at XPeng, the chip boasts two neural network processing units independently developed by the company, featuring a specialized architecture designed specifically for neural networks. When compared to general automotive-grade high-performance chips, "Turing" offers a 20% improvement in utilization and is capable of managing large models with an impressive capacity of up to 30 billion parameters.
