In the afternoon of April 8, Minister of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Wang Wentao, conducted a video conference with European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Valdis Dombrovskis (Šefčovič). During the meeting, the two sides engaged in thorough discussions on reinforcing China-EU economic and trade cooperation and addressing the imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" by the United States on China. They concurred on initiating consultations promptly to deliberate on market access issues and foster a more conducive business environment for enterprises. Additionally, the parties agreed to immediately commence negotiations on price commitments for electric vehicles, explore investment collaboration in the China-EU automotive sector, and support the reinvigoration of the China-EU trade remedy dialogue mechanism to effectively manage trade frictions.
