The European Commission has put forward revisions to existing regulations, proposing that European automakers be permitted to assess compliance based on the average carbon dioxide emissions over a three-year period from 2025 to 2027, as opposed to the previous annual assessment method. This initiative seeks to introduce greater flexibility into the system but necessitates the approval of both the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
