The Volkswagen Golf GTI available in China is poised to adopt the fifth-generation EA888 engine in the latter half of 2028, ensuring compliance with China's National VII emission standards. Currently, the Golf GTI on the market boasts a 2.0T turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 162kW (220 horsepower), with a suggested retail price ranging from RMB 209,900 to RMB 229,800. The fifth-generation EA888 engine, the latest high-performance iteration from the Volkswagen Group, ups the ante with a maximum power of 200kW (272 horsepower) and a peak torque of 400 Nm. This advanced engine has already made its debut in the Teramont Pro.
