On March 21st, Wang Wentao, the Minister of China's Ministry of Commerce, convened a meeting with Ola Källenius, the President of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) and Chairman of the Board of Daimler AG. The dialogue centered on Daimler AG's collaborative efforts in China and the ongoing EU anti-subsidy investigation targeting Chinese electric vehicles. Minister Wang emphasized that, as significant members of the World Trade Organization (WTO), amicably resolving the anti-subsidy case pertaining to electric vehicles is paramount to fostering strong China-EU relations and would send a clear, positive message to the global community.
He further stressed that both China and the EU are committed to adhering to WTO regulations and resolving discrepancies through constructive dialogue, thereby fostering a stable and predictable economic and trade environment conducive to the growth and collaboration of industries on both sides. Minister Wang commended Daimler AG for embodying the sensible voice of the European industrial sector and urged the EU to take tangible steps towards partnering with China to swiftly arrive at a mutually beneficial resolution.
