During an earnings call on March 21, William Li, Chairman of NIO, disclosed that the company will progressively integrate self-developed chips into its lineup, commencing with the ET9 model. Notably, the ET9 will be the pioneer in utilizing the in-house Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, with subsequent models following suit. Li emphasized that NIO does not currently envision integrating NVIDIA's Thor autonomous driving chip into its offerings. The Shenji NX9031 chip boasts impressive edge-side reasoning capabilities, with a single chip outperforming four industry-leading autonomous driving chips, and two chips delivering performance equivalent to eight such chips.
