On March 14, Tesla's China team announced its initiative to develop a new model tailored exclusively for the Chinese market, dubbed the "Affordable Model Y." This move aims to swiftly address the competitive landscape characterized by price cuts and configuration variations from domestic automakers by streamlining its offerings. Currently, Tesla's official website indicates that the delivery timeline for the revamped Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive Standard Range stands at 2-4 weeks, while the Long Range variant is anticipated within 6-10 weeks. Despite this slight extension, the order volume has remained within Tesla's projected production capacity, suggesting a well-balanced demand-supply scenario.
