Volkswagen's upcoming ninth-generation Golf (MK9) is poised to make its debut in 2029, leveraging a revolutionary electric architecture co-created by Volkswagen and Rivian. This model will exclusively be available in a fully electric configuration, coexisting in the market with the current eighth-generation Mk8 Golf. Volkswagen has committed $5.8 billion to this groundbreaking project. The novel architecture promises to streamline system complexity, minimize the number of control units, and introduce OTA (Over-The-Air) online update capabilities.
