A class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz is currently underway in a US court, where plaintiffs are accusing the company of manufacturing multiple car models with sunroofs prone to shattering since 2011. Among these is the case of plaintiff Natalie Bolin, who incurred nearly $5,000 in replacement costs after her sunroof unexpectedly shattered. Mercedes-Benz stands accused of utilizing tempered glass instead of the safer laminated glass, rendering the sunroofs susceptible to fragility. The affected models encompass the C-Class, CLA, E-Class, S-Class, and other series.

According to the lawsuit documents, Mercedes-Benz has been aware of the sunroof fragmentation risk since 2006 but has failed to issue a recall notice. The judge has allowed multiple fraud charges and implied warranty claims within the lawsuit to proceed. Notably, the earliest customer complaints documented by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) date back to 2010. As of now, the final ruling has yet to be issued, and we will keep abreast of subsequent developments.
