On October 22, Li Changqing, a second-level inspector at the Quality Development Bureau of the State Administration for Market Regulation, emphasized at the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference the importance of striking a balance between innovation-driven development and safety prioritization. While advocating for enterprises to delve into cutting-edge technologies, he stressed that the principle of safety prioritization must be woven into every stage of research and development, verification, and continuous improvement. He called for an end to short-sighted practices that prioritize speed over safety and cautioned against the deployment of 'radical innovations' that have not undergone real-world scenario validation. He underscored that enterprises should take proactive responsibility for the quality and safety of their products, fulfill their obligations in accident reporting and defect recalls without fail, and strictly forbid any concealment or underreporting. This ensures that products undergo thorough verification before entering the market. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of harmonizing quality enhancement within enterprises with overall supply chain quality improvement, as well as aligning domestic governance standards with international mutual trust mechanisms.
